Why Shoot in RAW?

People always say, "Shoot in RAW! Shoot in RAW!". So you're thinking, you should just shoot in RAW. But do you really know why it's so important? Let's find out!
So essentially RAW is a file format that captures all the data within an image recorded by the camera sensor when you capture a photo.
When shooing in a standard format such as JPEG, information from the sensor thens to be compressed and lost. This results in poorer image quality and if you wanted to correct problematic images it would be significantly more difficult. However, if you really do not mind what the photo looks like when you took it, JPEG is a perfect format to share digitally.
